The length of Time Homeless section of the entry assessment is one of the most difficult parts of the assessment. Join me for part 5 in this series looking at how to complete each question.
Total number of months homeless on the street or in emergency shelter in the past three years refers to the total number of months a person was homeless for even one day in that month.
Example: I like to count on my fingers as I go through the months. Note that two of the months listed below are from the same month. Answer: 11 Months.
Pro Tip for people working at Housing Programs!
If you are a housing program and your client loses their housing but is housed again right away or moved to another unit, they do NOT need to be exited from the program or given a new housing move-in date. You can use an interim to update their new contact info, but the rest does not need to change.
It's only if a client lost their housing and no new housing has been identified yet, essentially starting the search for housing over again, would they need to be exited from the program and given a new housing move-in date.
