Learn something new about the HMIS system. Tips, tricks, and reminders.

Multiple Factor Authentication (MFA) is coming to WellSky- Tentative date 9/20/26*!

What does this mean: This means you will have to verify your identity when logging into Wellsky.  Similar to what you might do when logging into your bank account or logging into Cognito, if you are a Cognito form user.

What will change:

  • Username changes to your email address

  • New password requirements

    • 15 Characters

    • Upper and Lower Case

    • Number

    • Special Character

    • Cannot contain users first, last or username

    • Expires every 120 days

  • Email is used for second form of authentication

  • OPTIONAL- If you would like to be able to unlock your account or reset you own password without an admin’s help, you will need to set up an additional method of verification. These include:

    • Okta Verify (App)

    • Authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator (App)

    • Passkey (device specific HelpDesk cannot help with setup)

  • LIVE and TEST site passwords will sync together  (changing the password for one, changes it for both!)

*Clear communication will be sent out to all HMIS users with instructions prior to this change being implemented.

Do you work with Families with Kids?

Did you know that you do NOT have to exit kids from a family enrollment if the kids will be living with someone else for a short time? Perhaps they are going to live with grandma for a short time, or the state has taken temporary custody of the kids. As long as the parent still has guardian rights of the kids, they can remain in the project with them instead of unenrolling and re-enrolling them over and over again (which then requires unenrolling the whole household and re-enrolling them all again ?‍♀️).

In fact, unlike adults, kids can also be housed in more than one housing program at the same time. For example, they could be with one parent in a permanent supportive housing (PSH) project and with another parent in an emergency shelter (ES) project. HUD rules are realistic in knowing that children often spend time living with different family members.

Did a client just have a New Baby?

Adding a baby to a household enrollment can be a bit tricky. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

You will need to (1) create a client record for the baby and (2) add it to the household. Then, (3) add the baby to the project enrollment with it's birthday as the start date without changing the enrollment date of the rest of the household. We have an article that will walk you through that process:

Client Joins Household After Entry Date

What did the janitor say when he jumped out of the closet?

 Supplies!

The other day I was attacked by a bunch of circus clowns in a parking lot.

I won though, because I went right for the juggler.
