The following process is designed to support a holistic and thorough onboarding experience for new Front Door Assessors. Lane County is committed to providing a flexible training approach that accommodates diverse learning styles, ensuring all assessors have the tools and support they need to offer client-centered Front Door Assessments.
Requirements to become a Front Door Assessor:
- Agency serves eligible populations (Lane County’s Coordinated Entry System uses the definitions of “homeless” and “chronically homeless” found in 24 CFR 578.3. (See: Defining Chronic Homelessness);
- The agency already enters data into HMIS for an existing project. If your agency does not enter data into HMIS, it is mandatory that your agency advertise access to FDA services for eligible populations: Coordinated Entry - Lane County
- The agency has established language access policies.
- Assessor commits to engaging in case conferencing and all training requirements.
Step 1: Complete Questionnaire
Complete and submit a Lane County Front Door Assessor Request form . Once submitted it will be routed to the Lane County HMIS HelpDesk.
Step 2: Attend Coordinated Entry 101 Learning Session
Learn what the Coordinated Entry System is, how it works, who to assess, and what to expect.
- Lane County will reach out to schedule you for this in person training after your questionnaire is approved.
Step 3: HMIS Data Entry
Complete virtual training and gain access to the Front Door Assessment project in the Homeless Information Management System (HMIS).
- Lane County HelpDesk will email you the training after you attend the Coordinated Entry 101.
Step 4: Immersive shadowing
Observe one assessment through one of the following options:
Option 1 - Shadow assessors at your agency during a front door assessment
Option 2 - Lane County will set you up to shadow a peer during a front door assessment
Option 3 - Lane County staff will offer 1:1 shadowing and support during a front door assessment
