Did you know?

The length of Time Homeless section of the entry assessment is one of the most difficult parts of the assessment. Join me for this 3-part series looking at how to complete each question.

Prior Living Situation refers to where the client slept the night before.

Special information: If you are an agency that only accepts clients coming from a homeless situation, your answer must be from the

--Homeless Situations-- section, such as "Place not meant for habitation…" or “Emergency shelter…” Note that there are some exceptions for specific providers.

Length of Stay in Previous Place refers to how long the client has been staying in the prior living situation you listed above. This stay is measured in NIGHTS, which is unlike other questions.

Special Information: If the client has continuously been in the same situation over multiple periods of time, all of the time counts as a singular stay. For example, if a client is at one emergency shelter, then another emergency shelter next, that entire time counts as the time in an emergency shelter.

However, if the type of situation changes, then that is the end of the stay. For                     example, if a client is in a place not meant for habitation, an emergency shelter,                     and then a place not meant for habitation, only the last “place not meant for                     habitation” is the length of the stay.

Knee-Slappers

I can't take my dog to the pond anymore because the ducks keep attacking him. That's what I get for buying a pure bread dog.

I used to run a dating service for chickens. But I was struggling to make hens meet.
